Four magnet schools are joined together within one high school. Four main public programs anchor the corners of the rectangular plan and provide a locus for each community. Visitors enter on the second floor into a main circulation area, and either step down to the public spaces or up to the private classrooms.

Subtle sectional changes create separations between different communities and between public and private spaces within each community. The ground and roof fly away from each other to create public space, and compress to form more private areas.

The building extends into the landscape for seating and an elevated eating area. The landscape also spreads over the building on the roof terrace, which enhances the privacy between communities on the third level. Sectional changes separate functions in the landscape, allowing diverse activities - sports, farming, and public recreation - to be interspersed but still distinct.
